Melissa Achten and Ida Nørby are Rán, an ensemble using harp and cello to sew the sonic weave of their shared imaginations. With a process rooted in improvisation, their original compositions are charged with a folkloric and mythological aesthetic, ruminating on potent symbolic imagery. Based between Los Angeles and Copenhagen, Rán has performed internationally at the Darmstädter Ferienkurse in Germany, the Bang on a Can Summer Festival at MASS MoCa, and Mengi in Reykjavik.
